Black and white illustrations of insects, spiders, and frogs. Caption: Insects, arachnids, and amphibians! Oh my! These are some of the creatures that hung Ruth encounters in this whimsical and educational story.
A black and white illustration of a young girl lying in the grass at the base of a tree. Her doll is by her side. Caption: When Ruth follows the advice of the Wind to watch and listen, she meets many new friends and learns so much. In The Real Fairy Folk by Louise Jamison, published by Smidgen Press, you and your young ones can learn right along with Ruth. See the role and importance of insects from their perspective.

As a language teacher, I have to mention some language considerations. There are some spelling conventions that have changed since this book was written. For example "today" and "goodbye" are no longer spelled with hyphens. And some meanings have changed. At the time, "gay" meant happy, and "queer" meant odd.
A flowering plant, a book, and a pair of glasses sitting on a window sill. Caption: I am honoured to be an Ambassador for Smidgen Press. Would you like to be one too? You will get new releases first and free, and have the privilege of sharing fresh versions of classic literature. Applications are open here: https://form.typeform.com/to/TGuowYoc
