Monday Muddle: shoo, shoe

The second photo explains why it is shoo-in and not shoe-in. I’m not sure what a shoe-in would be. Maybe a contest entry at a Cinderella ball?

Monday Muddle: shoo: (exclamation) the word said to encourage someone or something to leave your presence; (verb) to encourage someone or something to leave your presence Used in the the term “shoo-in”. shoe: (noun) covering for the foot, having a thick or sturdy sole; metal plate attached to a horse’s hoof; (verb) to attach a metal plate to a horse’s hoof NOT used in the term shoo-in
shoo-in: (noun) a sure winner; someone who is certain to succeed; someone or something that could win easily The term originated with horse racing, and the fact that you would only have to shoo in a horse in order for it to win a fixed race.
